The Waterloo Ball is held in Belfast every two years. It is a Gala Charity Ball and is regarded as the best event of its type staged in Northern Ireland.
The Lord's Taverners is the National Charity, that is now well known locally for giving disadvantaged and disabled youngsters a real sporting chance. This will be the biggest fund raising event for the Northern Ireland Region of the Charity in 2012, and indeed one of the largest Charity events in Ireland.
By way of illustration the equivalent event in 2010 raised in excess of £150,000 with a significant recipient being The Mayor of Castlereagh's nominated Charity. Much of this success was due to the unparalleled support that the event receives from both local and international companies.
To stage this 2012 Waterloo Ball, the Lord’s Taverners have joined forces with the Mayor of Castlereagh, Shaw’s Bridge Sports Association, our main sponsor Phoenix Natural Gas and key supporting sponsor Ulster Bank.
Shaw’s Bridge in South Belfast will be transformed into a truly spectacular venue. Expect the very best in cabaret, top notch prizes, gourmet food by Yellow Door and world class celebrity entertainment, to aid some of Northern Ireland's most deserving Charities.
The Waterloo Ball recreates the grandeur of the Duchess of Richmond’s Ball held in Brussels on the 15th June 1815. The Ball was attended by the Duke of Wellington and his Officers, many of whom began the battle 48 hours later, still wearing their dancing pumps!
Tables are selling quickly, so book early for what will be a very special evening of dance, song, good humour and the finest gourmet food deliciously prepared by Yellow Door, in a specially constructed venue capable of seating 1,000 diners in comfort and style and delivering world class celebrity entertainment supported by 70 musicians, dancers and “West End” standard sound, lighting, production and TV coverage.
